Arrival in Israel Israeli participants welcome you. Together you begin your trip on this incredible Community Service/Volunteer Adventure!

Shehechiyanu Ceremony at the Jerusalem Overview at Armon Hanatziv (Haas Promenade)

Orientation Program You and your Israeli peers meet each other and review the goals and highlights of the program.

Friday, June 15

Revisit Important Sites in Jerusalem including the Old City and Western Wall

Bikur Holim Visit the sick in one of Jerusalem's hospitals

Kabbalat Shabbat Experience the uniqueness of Shabbat in Jerusalem as together we gather to light Sabbath candles.

Shabbat, June 16

Worship Options

Havdalah Mark the end of Shabbat and the beginning of the week with a creative and meaningful ceremony.

Sunday, June 17 - Thursday, June 21

Begin Community service Project in Kiryat Gat - Lachish - Shafir - Chicago's Partnership 2000 Region

Volunteer Options:

  • Working in an absorption center - learn about the needs of new Russian and Ethiopian immigrants to Israel who have come to Kiryat Gat
  • Help ease the burden on working families by volunteering in a local day care
  • Spend time with elderly residents of a senior citizen facility

Friday, June 22 - Saturday, June 23

Home Hospitality Enjoy an Israeli Shabbat at the home of Israeli friends.

Sunday, June 24 - Thursday, June 28

Travel to the North

Start a community service project in the North of Israel - an area devastated in last summer's conflict.

Volunteer Options:

  • Help to clear forests that burned, allowing room for new growth
  • Assist in the rebuilding of homes and beautification of shelters
  • Cleaning areas that have been neglected because of the strain on local services

Tiyulim Hike and explore the "hidden" Golan and Galil - in areas off the beaten track.

Shabbat Hospitality in the North

Sunday, July 1

Tel Aviv Day Relax on the beach after week of volunteering and travel. See some of the sites of Israel's modern city that you didn't get to on your first trip!

Monday, July 2

Jerusalem Day Return to Jerusalem - Judaism's spiritual center for one last day before your departure

Overnight: Jerusalem
