Mission & Vision

Mission Statement:

Shorashim (which means roots in Hebrew) is a nonprofit organization devoted to building bridges between Jews in Israel and around the world. Our programs are designed to bring to life the dynamic power of Jewish peoplehood through shared history (roots), culture, and values. We use the creative spirit of Israel and its people to engage children and young adults in the lifelong process of building and maintaining a Jewish identity. We are committed to a pluralistic Jewish community, which celebrates diversity and tolerance among Jewish people and the world.

Vision Statement:

Through Israel experience programs and educational projects that bring alive the vibrancy of modern Israel, Shorashim kindles a sense of Jewish identity in a Jewish world that has become less affiliated. Informal, but highly-coordinated connections between Jews in Israel and around the world - through travel, arts and culture, history, and new technology, is the medium by which our mission is performed. Our pluralistic endeavors are guided by the passion of our diverse educators and staff, many of whom themselves have been touched by our programs.
