Silence, Goats, and Scavenger Hunts

Monday morning, after a wonderful breakfast at our last Kibbutz, we headed to the Holon Children's Museum, where we experienced the wonderful and fascinating exhibit, "Invitation to Silence." We put on giant headphones that simulated deafness and swore that we would not speak. We were led through several rooms each representing a different challenge or aspect of deafness. For example, in the silent coffee shop, we learned that the name signs of deaf people usually have something to with some aspect of their personality, appearance, or interests, and also some simple signs.

Jaffa and Tel Aviv

Hello parents and other readers, whoever you may be. As the end of our trip looms in the coming days we are increasingly dreading saying goodbye to our Israeli friends. Nevertheless we continue our touring. Our day today started with a walking tour of old Jaffa. Jaffa is the southern part of Tel Aviv. It is 4,000 years old and is the port that many early zionists, like Hetrzl, passed through on their Aliyah to the holy land.
