Mifgash (Encounter)
With Shorashim you experience the awesome adventure of Israel through the eyes and hearts of Israeli friends. Mifgash is a fully integrated component of the Shorashim experience; it takes place every minute of every day.

Family
Shorashim fosters a sense of family. Many participants who begin at age thirteen remain involved with Shorashim into their twenties. Most American and Israeli staff are past program participants.

Continuity
Shorashim is a culture that transcends any one summer; it is a once in a lifetime experience that lasts forever.

 
Learning
Learning revolves around real places, events and people. Jewish learning takes place through experience.

 
Privilege
Going to Israel is a privilege that everyone should have and Shorashim's policy is to make that possible. An extensive scholarship program is available to participants.

 
Klal Yisrael (Pluralism)
Shorashim reaches out to American youth from the major denominations and to Israelis from the religious and non-religious sectors. Participants teach each other about Jewish life and culture in Israel and America.
